introduction
In the "Shadow Box" project, I call my work  "Orphans", I wanted to tell a story about the cruelty of war. Many children lose their parent and become orphans because of the war. They had to tack up the weapons even driving robot to fight for survival. In this process, many companions die but they need to keep forward.

At the beginning of this project, I have no ideal what I should make. When I watched the animation call "GUNDAM", I got an inspiration. Plastic model build is one of my hobbies, I am happy to make a shadow box with this hobby.
                                        prep
Materials:  A new "Gunpla" , two Garage Kits, glue gun, two specimen frames, aerosol sprays(putty, black, gray, brown), screwdriver(star), tape and masking tape, two model shears, grinding rod, sandpaper, krazy glue, paint pen.
Small stones, brushs, water colors
A data line
                                      process
step 1:  make a box
Firstly, dig out the cardboard for specimen box
Then, separate them.
Chang magnets
and fill the putty into holes
Hit the hole with the drill bit
then engage them with screws
Draw a logo on the box
use masking tapes cover the logo
spray and tear tapes
Step 2: making model and garage kits
Finish the skeleton for GUNDAM
finish the exoskeleton
outline the GUNPLA and color it.
glue the pedestal  of GK
and outline the details
make some shadows to the GK
Step 3: make the scene of shadow box
use wood and cardboard make one side of box like factory
use surplus plastic from GUNPLA to add some details
add a batten in another side.
spread a piece of paper in this side.
draw the sky on the paper.
Step 4: put the model and GKs in the box
cut a few of data lines
glue them on the  GUNPLA
put the GUNPLA in to "factory" what I already make and glue them.
put GKs in to box and draw a tombstone on the background
glue some small stones in front of the grave
                                     Final product
                                 last thoughts

The most challenge thing for me is I can not find tools and materials what I need in Canada. In China, I just need shopping on the internet. So I buy alternates in Dollarama and Currys. But that makes my box not good as what I though.

The other problem is the model and figures are plastic, I need to make them look like the real metal and skin. So I try to draw some textures and shadow on my subjects.

There have many straight lines and rectangles in my work, that makes a feeling of rigid, wordless and hardliner and that shows the grief of the war. Speaking in general, the cold tone is dominant tone of my work, that create an atmosphere of sadness. One the right side, I used Chiarosuro, strong contrast of the dark background and white subject make the audience eyes on the robot. On the left side, I draw a bright sky to be the background, that makes a feeling of happy, I want to express that "there have a bright line for orphans, so don't give up".
